Afro Gospel Artiste Cries Out For Help
Driven by her passion, confidence and hunger to become one of Nigeria’s biggest Afro Gospel artiste, up rising star, Miss Janet Gogo popularly known as “Mummy Naija” has cried out for help to enable her release her debut eight-track-album titled: “How can we make Nigeria better”, as it will serve as a spring board towards her journey to stardom.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide Entertainment, the handicapped songstress said: “the eight songs that make up the album have been voiced in the studios ready for release, but lack of fund, sponsorship and promotion have made it difficult for the album to see the light of day, hence the clarion call for help”.
The Akwa Ibom State born young artiste based in Port Harcourt used the medium to call on Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State, member, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Hon. Udom Gideon Akpan, the Rivers State Government and public spirited individuals to come to her aid. “I want to have my voice heard, I cannot come to this world and just go back without leaving a piece of me that will be remembered in the Nigeria music industry, I know I have all it takes to succeed except money and promotion, but I strongly believe God will see me through”, she said.
She disclosed that the songs contained in the eight track-album include: Stop-Stop, Holy Ghost Fire, Something Good Has Come My Way and I Suffer Many Years. Others are Oh Lord See Me Through, God Save Me, Time Na Money and the album title, How Can We Make Nigeria Better. According to her, the Songs are soul inspiring, preaches the words of God and moral sanctity in the society as it is in a class of its own in terims of originality, creativity and gospel evangelism amongst others.
The gospel music crooner who is also into circular music started her music career in 2004 under the tutelage of Bishop B, Boss of Integrity Studios, Ajegunle, Lagos State and since then she has participated in several musical concerts and shows as guest artiste.
She explained that music had been her childhood talent and she intends to use the divine talent to change the society for the better.
R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.
A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.
According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.
The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”
It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.
