TROMPCON Backs Wike On Neighbourhood Safety Corps
The Traditional Rulers of Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON), Rivers State chapter says it fully supports the Rivers State Government’s effort in the establishment of the Neighbourhood Safety Corps in the state.
The group also said that the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, when operational, will compliment the efforts of security agencies in the fight against criminal tendencies and anti-social vices bedevilling the state, especially in the rural communities.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, the state Chairman of TROMPCON, Eze Samuel Ndiwe Amaechi said the support was contained in the communique issued at the end of the organisation’s meeting held in Port Harcourt, recently.
Ameachi, who is the Onye Ishi Agwuru Igbo Kingdom in Etche Local Government Area of the state, further disclosed that members of the organisation agree with the state governor on the rationale for setting up the safety corps.
“TROMPCON described the state government initiative in establishing the agency as very apt, and called on all Rivers indigenes and other residents to support the state government in this direction in other to achieve a peaceful state for all,” Amaechi said.
The group also used the medium to congratulate Governor Nyesom Wike on the two recent prestigious 2017 man of the year awards conferred on him by Silverbird Group and The Sun Newspapers, adding that the awards were a justification of the governor’s performance in the state.
The TROMPCON also called on the Federal Government to urgently address the issue of environmental challenges ravaging the region with a view to bring an end the health hazards occasioned by incessant black soot in the state, noting that the people of the state were being infected with various illnesses as a result of the black soot menace.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.

highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
