Rivers PDP Hails Chinda’s Victory At Tribunal
The Chairman, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Bro Felix Obuah, has described the victory of Hon Kingsley Chinda, member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency at the election tribunal sitting in Abuja as a welcome development.
Expressing his excitement over the undisputed victory of Chinda through a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, the state PDP chairman said the dismissal of the petition filed by the defeated All Progressives Congress, (APC), candidate, Tony Okocha was an eye opener to the aggrieved APC losers that the tribunal was not necessarily set up to allocate underserving positions to petitioners on sentiments and, or false claims.
According to Obuah, every political office seeker has ample opportunity to convince the voters on why he should be preferred over his opponents before any election, and not just, hoping to get through the backdoor what he did not work for, or deserve.
The state PDP boss further commended the election tribunal for their dismissal of unfounded and baseless evidence by the petitioner, wondering what might have prompted the APC to even contemplate challenging the overwhelming victory of PDP’s Kingsley Chinda, whose track records in Obio/Akpor have continued to endear him to the people.
Rather than waste his precious time and resources pursuing a lost battle, Bro Obuah said, Okocha should rightly channel his energies into supporting the administration of his kinsman, Governor Nyesom Wike, to move the state to the height it truly deserves.
“We of the PDP see political parties as only platforms for expressing party ideology and advancing strategies to achieve effective governance. It’s by no means a cavern. We, therefore, welcome all like minds and men and women of goodwill into our fold to join hands in giving our people effective leadership”, Obuah added..
“In same spirit, we do not hesitate to extend our hands of fellowship to Mr. Tony Okocha and indeed, other APC members who are touched by the all inclusive administration of Governor Wike to join us in our bid to build a new and stronger Rivers State,” Obuah advised.
