RSG Donates 20 Vehicles, Others To Police
In a concerted effort to ensure adequate security in the State, the Rivers State Government has donated 20 patrol vehicles to the State police Command.
The State government also handed over dedicated special telephone lines and handsets, bullet proof vests and helmets to boost policing in the State.
Speaking at the occasion of the formation of Eminent persons forum and the launching of the items donated to the State Police Command by the State government at the Police Officers’ Mess in Port Harcourt Monday, Governor Nyesom Wike said the gesture was a show of the government’s commitment to support the Police in the State.
The governor, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Port Harcourt, Mr. Onyemachi Nwankwo, reiterated his unflinching support to the security agencies in the state.
He promised to support the Police in their war against criminality in the state, and enjoined members of the public to cooperate with Police in that regard.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo lauded the state government for the donation, and assured that they will be judiciously deployed to serve the purpose for which they were provided.
According to him, the equipment would help in providing adequate security and promote peaceful environment for investors to do their business in the State.
He urged the stakeholders to educate their subjects on the need to cooperate with Police by providing useful information, adding that the synergy would enable the Police act quickly to prevent crime before it is committed.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
