The Rivers State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has commended one of its key patrons and financier of Go Round FC, Bro Felix Obuah over the emergence of his clubside as the Champions of the 2016 Rivers State Federation Cup competition.
Speaking after Go Round FC beat premier league side, Rivers united 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 score line within regulation time on Sunday to win the state final, the state chairman of SWAN, Mr. Gabriel Nwanetanya said that it was a historic feat by the club.
It is the first time a club owned by an individual would lift the trophy in the state, the SWAN chairman said.
He noted that the fact that Go Round FC was able to subdue their more illustrious opponents underlined the motivational power of Bro Obuah and his commitment to the welfare of the players.
Also, Bro Obuah’s commitment to sports development and empowerment is excellent, he said.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge our dear patron not to relent in his efforts to lift sports and the youth to the next level and to continue his good works with Go Round FC.
“I also urge other private individuals, Corporate bodies and groups to emulate Bro Obuah and invest in sports and the youth in order to provide opportunities for young people to channel their energy productively,” Nwanetanya said.
SWAN also wished Go Round FC successful campaign in their bid to gain promotion to the premier league at the end of the season, and fruitful outing as Rivers State’s flag bearers in the national Federation Cup competition.
