North-East Group Lauds APC Over Zoning
North East Progressives Youth Forum (NPYF), a group of youths from the North East has hailed the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for zoning party’s Board of Trustees Chairmanship, Deputy Senate Presidency and leadership of the House of Representatives to the area.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Coordinator of the NPYF, Mohammed Abdullahi, while appreciating the party said that in due course, the group would also ask for more offices in the incoming government.
Abdullahi specifically distinguished Bauchi as the state to be considered for the post of the deputy senate president having won 10% of the elective offices for APC even with the presence of the trio of Governor Isa Yuguda, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor of the state, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed.
He also argued that the state has suffered many years of neglect in terms strategic top positions in the Federal Government.
According to him, “This would be salutary to the historical contributions of Bauchi, as the regional capital of the North East zone in terms of political visibility at the centre when the late Tafawa Balewa was prime minister.
“Since the Balewa era ended, Bauchi has not enjoyed strategic accommodation at the top echelon of government in terms of elective offices. We hope that this will be an opportunity to appreciate the contribution of Bauchi to building of a solid foundation of political participation by the zone in national politics, he said.
