IPMAN Crisis Deepens

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) yesterday condemned the vandalism of its headquarters by suspected aggrieved members of the association who were expelled in 2007.
The association said that the criminal act was unwarranted and urged members to close ranks to ensure peace in the association and also ensure stable fuel supply in the country.
The association made the condemnation in a statement issued by Alhaji Danladi Pasali, Special Assistant (Media) to the IPMAN President, Mr Chinedu Okoronkwo.
Pasali said that the vandalism of its office was “an act by saboteurs“ aimed at frustrating its activities to ensure free flow of petroleum products in the country.
He said that the “criminal act“ had been reported to the appropriate security agency.
“It was illegal and an act in contempt of court by suspended IPMAN members to break into an office and take over it.
“Meanwhile, the case of the suspension of those members is still pending in court in Abuja.
“They should stop parading themselves as officials of the association because the legal foundation of their power had been removed by the ruling of the court,’’ he said.
Pasali said that it was wrong for any member of the association to disrupt activities of the association.
He called on the Nigeria Police to wade into the matter “with some sense of urgency“ in order to stop any fracas that might disrupt the supply of petroleum products during this festive season.
“We want to call all on our members across the country to disregard any move by some disgruntled persons to disrupt the smooth supply of petroleum products.
“IPMAN will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that we achieve our core visions for Nigerians,’’ he said.
Some IPMAN members were suspended in 2007 following a power tussle within the group.
The case to determine the right group to constitute the IPMAN executive is still pending before an Appeal Court in Abuja.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.

As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.

The Body of Permanent Secretaries wished Governor Fubara continued good health, divine wisdom, and greater accomplishments in his service to the people of Rivers State.
