Rivers Weightlifting Coach Prepares For Schools Sports Festival
Assistant Coach of the Rivers State Weightlifting Association (RSWA), Reginald Briggs has promised to groom and harness talented children for the 5th National Schools Sports Festival in order to compete favourably with their counterparts from other parts of the federation.
Briggs made the pledge at the weekend during an interview with Tidesports at the weightlifting gymnasium at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports complex, Port Harcourt.
According to him, the fiesta is fast approaching, and the association is set to ensure that the children to represent the state in the sport would be well groomed for the task ahead.
He however, disclosed that, he was banking on only one girl at Government Girls Secondary School Oromenike for now.
Though the competition includes boys and girls for now, I can only assure you of a student at the Government Girls Secondary School Oromenike, Port Harcourt”, he said.
He stated that with time the state would discover other potential student athlete (boys and girls) that would represent Rivers State in the sport.
Weightlifting is among other sports entitled for the 5th National Schools Sports fiesta scheduled to be hosted by Rivers State, this year.
