World Bank Chief To Speak On Cashless Policy
The Head, Payment Systems Development Group, World Bank, Mr.
Massimo Cirasino, is billed to visit Nigeria, in October, to speak at a
conference on the cash-less policy of the Federal Government.
A statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday
said Cirasino would be speaking alongside the Vice-President, Global Mobile
Solutions, Citibank, USA, Mr. Kevin Brown, on issues surrounding the policy,
being organised by De Novo, a strategy brand and media firm.
The two-day programme, sponsored mainly by the CBN, is
focusing on the country’s transition to cash-less society, with particular
attention paid to the possibilities and challenges.
Billed for October 8 and 9, the conference is expected to
bring together experts in the global payments industry to present key
developments from other jurisdictions, which can be used as a guide for the way
forward.
Experts drawn from relevant sectors of the economy such as
banking, manufacturing, telecommunications, services, and the informal sector,
and from outside Nigeria, would meet at the forum to deliberate on the issues
surrounding the cash-less policy.
Key speakers at the forum, according to the statement, are
the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, CBN Governor, Mr. Lamido
Sanusi, Minister of Justice, Mr. Bello Adoke, Minister of Communication and
Technology, Mrs. Mobola Johnson; and top relevant members of the National
Assembly.
