Group Wants RSG To Monitor Network Providers
The Rivers State Government, has been called upon to monitor network providers in the state to ensure quality service delivery to customers.
The President of Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCA), Comrade Christian Lekia said this in Port Harcourt yesterday in a chart with The Tide.
Lekia said the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and other agencies could not do the business of monitoring alone, saying that the network providers in the country were enjoying too much freedom.
He said government should include monitoring as part of the activities of the state-owned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre so as to effect proper service delivery.
The Niger Delta leader wondered why service providers in the country could not render quality service.
He noted that it was only in Nigeria that network problem had become the order of the day, adding that monitoring of the system by government service providers to action.
He urged the Rivers State Government to henceforth sanction network providers in the state that were living below expectation, noting that almost all of them shared the same level of blame.
He observed that GSM tariffs were too expensive, suggesting that all calls should go at the rate of N5.00 per minute.
He called on the Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Engineer Goodliff Nmekini to facilitate the building of ICT centres in each of the 23 local government areas of the state.
