Council, Chiefs To Promote Unity In Okrika
The Okrika Local Government Council, says it would create a workable framework for the chieftaincy institution in Okrika to promote, unity, peace and stability.
Chairman of the council, Barrister Tamuno Williams disclosed this recently while addressing the executive council members of the Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs at the council secretariat.
Barrister Williams said, the codified framework for the Okrika chieftaincy institution would transcend the ideals, principles and identifiable functions of the chieftaincy institution so that it would be easy to interpret.
The Walga Chairman further disclosed that this year, the council would hold an Okrika Economic Summit to articulate fundamental issues on development and transformation.
He explained that his administration has made some efforts to produce a blue print that would be used as a mandate and index for transformation and growth in the area.
Barr’. Williams said the council will soon embark on a town hall meeting across communities in the Local Government Area to present his stewardship report and interact with the people on the best way to go about the proposed transformation.
The Council boss used the occasion to announce that he would constitute an advisory committee comprising chiefs to advise and formulate policies for the smooth running of the council and urged them to always promote the unity, stability and ideals of Okrika, promising that the council would endeavour to complete all on going projects.
Earlier, the Chairman of Okrika Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Nemi Wisdom Adoki had advocated for a constitutional frame work to be used as basis for the installation of War Canoe House chiefs in Okrika.
