Abe Gives Recipe For Corruption Reduction

Senator Magnus Abe, has said that corruption could be much reduced in the country if people stop making financial demands on their elected representatives and public office holders.

The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District at the National Assembly made the assertion Sunday in Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, during a thanksgiving and reception in honour of the member representing Khana Constituency I in the State Assembly, Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Bori.

Senator Abe who is also the Senate Committee Chairman on Downstream Petroleum Sector, said the demand for money from the political leaders give the impression that the people have been settled and the scenario would affect service delivery to the people.

He noted that the demand for money from leaders has made the people to lose their voice as those in authority would not feel obligated to respond to the needs of the people.

According to him, “if we want Nigeria to move forward and reduce the level of corruption our people must stop demanding money from the elected leaders to guarantee service delivery.”

Senator Abe commended the Methodist Church for honouring Mr. Nwidadah, describing him as an example of a good representative of the people and urged the church to continue to identify with the elected political officer holders because such support would spur them to perform better.

The senate committee chairman called on the church to support the government with prayers to enable her surmount the challenges of insecurity in the country.

In his sermon, the Methodist Bishop, Diocese of Bori, Rt. Rev. Innocent Saro Ndinwii, described Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah as a gift to the church having served as the Chief Usher for many years, stressing that his exemplary lifestyle was the reason for honouring him.

Bishop Ndinwii said the occasion coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Diocese of Bori and urged Christians to have hope in God as those that live and serve Him would be lifted.

Responding, Hon. Legborsi Nwidadah thanked the church for the recognition and promised to fulfill his electioneering promises to the people while urging them to support him to enable him give them unparalleled representation.

The occasion was also used by the church to raise funds for the completion of the cathedral building.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.
