Rivers ICT Unit To Resume Operations Next Month
The Rivers State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department may resume full operations next month.
An officer of the Centre who pleaded anonymity made this disclosure to our reporter in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The staff said all is set for full scale operations as regards its public relationship but some logistics that will provide safe landing are yet to be provided.
The source noted that official activities had been going on in the area, adding that both the management and staff are ready for work.
The Tide learnt that part of the delay was an attempt by the ICT to double its efforts in serving both the government and members of the public.
According to the source, the Centre has done more than expected judging from the few years of its existence.
It explained that its reach out programme last year was second to none as many students as well as civil servants were taught computer appreciation and other packages free.
Our source further recalled that Rivers State was still among the foremost in the area of ICT development, citing the ICT farm as a case study.
Though not willing to dish out more about its operations, until next month, it hinted that the centre will do all within its reach in order to maintain its lead among states of the country.
However, it was further learnt that the ICT department will send more students for overseas training this year who will on return be employed by the State Government.
