NAPEP Uplifts Nigerians, Says Kpakol
Despite misgivings expressed by some Nigerians on the continued relevance of the National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) in the campaign against poverty in the country, the national coordinator of the programme, Dr Magnus Kpakol says the programme is still on course as it has improved the lives of many Nigerians
Dr Kpakol said this in an interview with The Tide during the burial ceremony of Madam Matildah Gbaaranen in Nweol Town in the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The NAPEP coordinator said that the programme has achieved a lot in the area of poverty alleviation, stressing that it would be unwise on the part of Nigerians to write off the agency as a failure.
He also said that the challenge of fighting poverty in the country cannot be left to NAPEP alone as every Nigerian must play a part to find solution to the problem.
Dr Kpakol described the death of Madam Matildah Gbaaranen as a big loss to the family and the entire Nweol community
Also speaking, the Rivers State Commissioner for Social Welfare/ Rehabilitation, Hon Joe Poroma described the death as a great loss to the people of Gokana.
