RSG Offers 100 megawatts To National Grid, November
The Rivers State Government says it is ready to inject one hundred megawatts of electricity into the national grid by the end of November 2009.
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who disclosed this yesterday in course of an unscheduled inspection of projects in Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, said the state government would continue to inject available megawatts of electricity into the grid until the state is sustainable in power supply.
He said that soon after the injection of 100 megawatts, the people of the state and residents will experience some level of consistency in the power situation, noting that it would be improving on that capacity in milestones.
“With this 100 megawatts, the state integrated power project will be up to 280 megawatts”, he said, assuring that soon President Yar’Adua will visit the state to commission the new 100 megawatts addition to the grid.
At Rumuogba, Old Aba Road, Governor Amaechi directed the occupants of illegal structures along the road to vacate the place immediately to enable the contracting firm handling the road project to carryout proper work.
The Governor also inspected the Trans-Amadi Oginigba/Rumuobiakani road under construction as well as projects in some parts of Greater Port Harcourt City area.
