Senior Secondary Schools Staff To Undergo Personnel Audit
In line with the resolve of the Rivers State government to ascertain the actual number of staff on its payroll, staff of senior secondary schools in the state are to undergo personnel audit and electronic I.D. card registration.
A statement from the Office of the Head of Service indicates that the exercise will begin today at Room 601, 6th floor, wing A of the Point Block, State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt at 9.30.
According to the statement the exercise, is divided into several groups due to the large number of staff. As a result, staff of the Post Primary Schools Board would take their turn today, and tomorrow while Wednesday, March 24 is scheduled for staff of all Senior Secondary Schools and the Zonal Board in Abua/Odual Local Government Area. Thursday, March 25 has been fixed for staff of all senior secondary schools and the Zonal Board in Asari-toru Local Government Area.
The statement further directed principals of senior secondary schools and the Zonal Boards in the remaining local government areas (LGAs) to verify dates scheduled for their local government areas from the Post Primary Schools Board or the venue of the exercise and inform all their staff to adhere strictly to the schedule as no further announcements would be made.
The statement enjoined all affected staff to come with original copies of their letters of first Appointment, First School Leaving Certificate, Confirmation of Appointment, Birth Certificate and completed Personnel Data forms duly signed by their principals or Heads of Department.
It also advised all affected staff to present themselves physically for the exercise as those who fail to do so would be regarded as ghost workers.
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state. According to him, constructive media engagement remains essential in creating public awareness on educational reforms, students’ welfare, infrastructural improvements, and other interventions being implemented by the state government.
