Operators’ Meeting: Subscribers Decry CPC’s Delay
The Consumer Protection
Council (CPC) is yet to meet telecommunication operators as it promised during the 2014 World Consumer Rights Day celebration in March, this year
The Director-General of the Council, Mrs Dupe Atoki, said that her council would meet telecom operators to discuss on the best way to enhance service in the country.
Subscribers in Port Harcourt who reacted to the situation, said that all regulating bodies in the country have failed to deliver accordingly.
They wondered why the commission and others would wait for so long before handling the issue of poor service in the country.
A subscriber, Dr. Didia Monday, said the Federal Government was part of the problem, since it has refused to caution the regulating bodies over their attitude to issues.
He explained how a friend of us who came in from United States of America nearly left immediately due to inability to contact people on phone with ease.
Monday, described the situation as unfortunate and demanded prompt overhauling of the telecom system.
He maintained that if the concerned agencies act accordingly, that the network providers would only be left with the best option of operation.
The subscriber, also called on the private telecom owners to consider not only the huge profit they are making from the system but subscribers’ interest which he said is at risk.
|He rated Nigeria as the highest patronisers of telecom operators in Africa, judging from its population, thus the need to enjoy the best service provision.
On the issue of the CPC’s planned meeting, he said that the senate should form a standing committee that would monitor the activities of telecom operators in the country.
