The Senator representing
Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, has praised Governor Chibuike Amaechi for the transformation in the education sector.
Abe who disclosed this while answering questions from Ogoni Young Professionals during a dinner in Port Harcourt, said the transformation was enormous.
He said under Govenror Amaechi, education now wears a new look with modern structures and state-of-the-art facilities, which have become fundamental parts of the Rivers State government education policy.
“In Rivers State, we are lucky to have a governor who understands the importance of communication technology for future development, that’s why you have the new primary and secondary schools fitted with computers and modern facilities”, emphasised.
Abe, disclosed that the nomination of education and computer based items as his constituency projects in parts of the state were in support of the governor’s commitment to development in the sector.
“I believe that education is the bedrock for development and those of us who understand how critical it is will continue to work with the authorities towards achieving that. As a legislator driven by passion for capacity building through education and training, I nominated computer centres and schools to be built in Rivers State”.
The senator expressed regrets that Nigerians expect legislators to be involved in the provision of water boreholes, building of markets and construction of culverts for roads in the communities, saying, those things are not the responsibilities of a lawmaker.
