Lawmaker Donates Transformers To Oyigbo
Ten units of transformers
have been donated to the people of Oyigbo in Oyigbo Local Government Area to boost power supply in the area.
The member representing Oyigbo Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu who made the donation said that the gesture was in line with meeting the demands of the people.
Nwaogu said that the transformers will be installed at strategic locations to check the erratic power supply in Oyigbo and its envrions.
The lawmaker disclosed that his office had embarked on various programmes since 2012 to improve the condition of the people.
Specifically, he said that over 50 widows have benefited from his empowerment programme while 50 youths of Oyigbo origin had been trained in Information Communication and Technology (ICT).
Nwaogu also said that over 200 students were registered for the senior school certificate examination (SSCE) while a model nursery school of eight classrooms had been constructed at Ebete Ndoki, while a model ICT centre was under construction at Okoloma Afam.
He used the occasion to advise politicians to be men who keep to their words, stressing that promises made to the people must be fulfilled to bring government closer to the people.
Speaking, the Eze Oha Oyigbo, Eze Mike Nwaji described the gesture as unique in the area, stressing that the lawmaker had shown an example that must be emulated by both elected and appointed representatives of the people.
Also speaking, the former chairman of the council, Hon Felix Nwaeke said that Hon Nwaogu has brought honour to the people of Oyigbo and the All Progressives Congress in the area.
