Commissioner Lists Gains Of ICT
The Rivers State Com
missioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr Samuel Eyiba, has described Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as the ruler of the globe following its contribution to the development of all sections of the economy.
The commissioner said this at the council head quarters of Ahoada East local government area in Ahoada.
He said the system now has become the direction of the world adding that the rush in its acquisition and knowledge was a visible prove, as most examination in the world are now conducted through ICT and the internet.
He reasoned that the ICT provision at the local government area would train and prepare those at the grassroot for the new challenge ahead in the areas of technology development.
He explained that it would have been out of place to deny them such opportunities, stressing the need for proper utilisation.
The Tide learnt that the ICT centre was upto date and has concluded plans to train workers in the council.
Our reporter also gathered that it has about 56 units of flat screen computers as well as other accessories that would enable users get the desired skill and knowledge.
Also speaking, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the local government area, Hon Andy Nweye, said that the project was one of the achievements of the part administration of the local government area.
He did not say how long the centre has been in use, but expressed satisfaction over its provision, saying that his administration would see to its sustenance.
