The Manager, Public Relations, NIPOST regional Headquarters, Port Harcourt, Mr. Godwin Akpan said this last Wednesday in a chat with our reporter in Port Harcourt.
He noted that the continuous non-challant attitude towards the purchase of stamps by hotel operators has become a major clog in the growth of post services in the country.
Akpan, explained that stamps and legal documents could yieled better result in terms of litigation, hence the need to purchase it.
According to him, it is a common practice among civilised countries to purchase stamps at every transaction point especially those that involve huge amounts.
The NIPOST PRO, reasoned that if commercial outfits in the country begin to issue out stamps in their transactions, it would also create employment opportunities for the youth.
He described as unfortunate the negligence meted to the post by Nigerians, adding that until citizens of the country learn how to appreciate its commercial outfits, that the expected business growth may not be recorded.
According to him, the Port Harcourt Post, only succeeded in delivering 10 thousand boxes out of over 30 thousand in its stock.
He also said that boxes from the post are necessary property, adding that it helps in preservation of personal documents.
About the amount for the boxes, he said his organaisation charges lower than N12,000 annually, while calling on authorised government agencies to consider partnership with the post.
