Club Donates Equipment To Bunu Health Centre
The Rotary Club of Port
Harcourt, GRA District 914, in partnership with Exxon Mobil Nigeria Limited has donated delivery suits, mosquito nets and other medical materials to the Model Primary Health Centre at Bunu Tai in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
President of the club, Ms Medline Tador who presented the materials on behalf of the club to the management of the health centre said that the gesture was in line with the club’s programme of assisting humanity.
Tador said that two health centres were selected to benefit from the programme, one of which is the Model Primary Health Centre, Bunu Tai and one at Okrika.
The Rotary Club of GRA president also commended the management of Exxon Mobil for its support to the club and also disclosed plans by the club to begin the construction of a water project for the community.
Also speaking, the past District Governor of the club, Rotarian (Dr) Odoliyi Lolomari said, the programme was part of the club’s humanitarian activities across the state, adding that the gesture will help to check the rate of maternal mortality and the spread of malaria in the community.
Meanwhile, the Manager Government/ Public Affairs, Exxon Mobil Nigeria Limited, Mr Yemi Fakayejo said that the company has a lot of programmes for communities both within its operational area and outside.
He said that the company is happy that its support to the Rotary Club is not misplaced, stressing that the medical equipment will improve the conditions of the people.
Receiving the items on behalf of the health centre, the doctor-in-charge, Dr Cyril Wali thanked the club for the gesture and pledged to put it into judicious use.
The youth leader of the community, Mr Emmanuel Livite described the gesture as the first of its kind in the community.
