RSG Restates Commitment To ICT Dev
The Rivers State
Government has reiterated its earlier resolution to transform the state through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Special Adviser to the State Governor, Engr Goodliffe Nmekini, gave the assurance while donating 20 Laptop computers to Keeping IT Real (KIR) foundation, in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
He said that the state has no choice, but to move every sector of its economy forward through the use of ICT.
Nmekini, noted that the Amaechi-led government was proud to also partner the foundation on ICT development to enable it achieve its aims.
He pointed out that the governor’s interest in educational development of the state was part of the reasons why he created the ICT department in 2013.
The governor’s aide, also described the KIR foundation as impressive, saying that there is no striking different between those with disabilities and the normal persons in terms of brain power.
It was learnt that the foundation was established for those with disabilities, and other vulnerable persons, so as to give them a sense of belonging in the society.
He identified IT, software and hardware training as the core areas the state government would prefer most to partner with the foundation.
Meanwhile, the executive director of the scheme, Bitebo Gogo, has showered praises to the state government for keeping to its words.
She recalled that some people would have gambled with the promise, but was delighted over what she also tagged as impressive performance.
Gogo, pointed out that the foundation would serve as all inclusive and not exactly exclusive for those with disabilities, adding that every child ought to be provided with a level playing field.
The ICT team was led by the SA, Team Lead-Rubby Minimah, Director of Administration, Mrs Aleruchi Akani and Director of Operations, Austin Dimkpa.
