Gulf Estate: Community Disowns Protesters
The Okuru-Ama Community in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area has dissociated itself from the protest organised by some indigenes of the community over the proposed state government Gulf Housing Estate in the area.
Briefing newsmen in the community, the Chairman of Okuru-Ama community, Deacon Dennis Minabere said that the purported protest did not have the support of the community as it was organised by persons with selfish interest.
He saw that the community had declared its readiness to support any project that will bring development to the community, stressing that the Gulf Estate project is one of those projects that will bring development to the area.
“As a people, we express over sincere appreciation to the government of Rivers State for the numerous developmental projects sited in our community most recently the Gulf Estate Housing Project we re-emphasise that any person or group of persons who will hide under the leadership of Okuru-Ama to forment trouble should squarely face the consequence of their actions” he said.
According to him, “the people of Okuru-Ama use this opportunity to declare that our support for the government of Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is total and will ever remain so “we absolutely support all the projects sited in our community by the Rivers State Government, and urge the governor to continue:.
Also speaking the secretary of the community, Engr. Bob Dagogo Mockintosh said that these involved in the protest have no right to speak for the community.
Engr. Mackintosh said that the protested did not have the power to speak for the community.
