Firm Donates Materials To Bayelsa Flood Victims
A fast food company, in Bayelsa State Pepperoni Foods Limited, has joined the list of corporate organisations that donated relief materials to flood victims in the state
The company, according to its Audit/Internal Control manager, Mr. Emmanuel Essiet donated its quota to mitigate the effect on victims and appealed to well- meaning individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the displaced persons.
Mr. Essiet who handed the items, which include bags of rice and beans, garri, yams, cartons of water, mattresses, mosquito nets, beverages, toiletries, tin tomatoes, bread and others, to the Bayelsa State SSG, Prof. Edmund Allison Oguru, said the gesture was to help in ameliorating the plight of the displaced persons in the state.
He noted that the company was concerned about the well being of its host communities, hence the decision to intervene in the predicament of the state and the people.
“Bayelsa State is the home of Pepperoni Foods and it is particularly painful for us to see the homes and businesses of our customers and staff being ravaged by the storm” he said.
Prof. Allison-Oguru while receiving the items on behalf of the state government commended the company for its prompt response to the plight of the victims.
He said the items would go a long way in ameliorating the suffering of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.
He called on other corporate organizations within and outside the state to emulate Pepperoni and others that have donated materials and donate towards the cause, stressing that the task of providing succour for the victims should not be left in the hands of the state government.
“It is the responsibility of all Nigerian citizens to intervene and support the government in its effort to find a long term solution to the disaster,” he said.
