NAPPS Harps On ICT In Schools
The National Association of Proprietors of Private School
(NAPPS) Rivers State chapter says it has adjusted properly to embrace fully the
introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the school
curriculum by the Federal Government.
The president of the group, Dr Peter Harrison, made this
known while briefing newsmen Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
Harrison hinted that most of his members are operating fully
ICT School with current computers.
He said NAPPS also adopted the innovation as part of efforts
to complement the state government’s Education Quality Assurance Agency
(EQUAA).
The Tide gathered that, EQUAA monitors the activities of
schools in order to bring out the best in them.
It was further learnt that the agency is to supervise and
ensure that unnecessary taxations among other irregularities were checked.
According to Harrison, ICT introduction was aimed at making
the students to be computer literate, adding that, his members have computer
laboratories.
The NAPPS President also explained that the body complements
government’s efforts in all aspect of education to ensure that the modern
teaching techniques trickles down even to the private schools.
He said NAPPS has a cordial relationship with the
government, adding that it is partners in progress with government.
On the issue of non-payment of private teachers during
holidays, he said such was not associated with his members.
Meanwhile, he has called on all NAPPS member to strictly
adhere to all government policies concerning education so as to continue to tap
from the robust education environment created by Governor Amaechi.
