The Nigeria Institute of Architects, Rivers State Chapter
has Commended Government Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi for Using due process policy
to reduced to the bearest minimum quarks in the building industries in the
state.
The Chairman of the body, Arch. Dike Emmanuel, made the
Commendation, Thursday at the end of the institute’s One-day Workshop organized
for Civil Servants in the State.
According to him, Due process policy has made so many quarks
in Engineering, Architecture, and other professions in the State to be
identified.
He said the process
had also reduced the rampant Collapsing of building in the State and the
Country in general, pointing out that the process of getting contract from the
Governor Ameachi led administration was not like before, when due process was
not followed but contracts was given to settle political association and supporters
without minding the implication on the projects.
On the Workshop, Arch. Emmanuel said the aim was to empower
Civil Servants, whose services are related to architecture.
He said that the programme was to equip the Civil Servants
with the latest technology in the building industries for the ministries to be
more efficient
He attributed the problem of Architecture in the Country to
the lack of implementation of the specifications given to the builders or the
contractors.
Architect Emmanuel however said Architecture in Nigeria is
far better than what obtains in some Countries in Africa.
He expressed optimism that, in the nearest future, Nigeria
would be competing with other developed Countries like Dubai, America among
others.
