Gunmen Launch Fresh Attacks On GSM Masts In Mubi
Gunmen have launched fresh attacks on GSM masts in Mubi town
of Adamawa.
Residents of Mubi, who spoke to The Tide said the latest
attacks took place around 4 a. m on Thursday.
The residents said the attack took place in Sabon-Layi area
of the town where explosives were thrown at one of the base stations in the
area, damaging part of it.
“Also another tower near the market was attacked in the
night around 8 pm”, one of the residents, who preferred anonymity told The
Tide.
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP
Mohammed Ibrahim, confirmed the two incidents.
Ibrahim , however, did not specify the operators affected by
the attacks but said there was no lost of life during the Wednesday and
Thursday incidents.
The Tide reports that gunmen had last Wednesday launched
similar attacks on masts in the commercial border town which killed four people
including two students of Adamawa State University and Federal Polytechnic Mubi
during the attacks on some masts near the schools.
Residents of Mubi have expressed concern over possible
communication cut-off with the outside world if the assault continued.
“In the name of God and everything good, we are calling for
a cease fire and dialogue”, pleaded one of the residents of the embattled town
who simply identify himself as Aliyu.
