Rivers
Church To Reposition For New Challenges
Churches of Christ in Rivers State have vowed to stamp out
all physical and spiritual challenges in order to properly equip the youth for
the 21st century tasks as it concerns the Christians.
The Tide learnt that the youth retreat which is the third
edition since its inception in 2010 will have its theme ‘Manifesting His
Glory”.
Speaking in his office at Church of Christ, Rumuokwuta, Port
Harcourt, over the week, Evangelist Friday Obong, said that this year’s
conference has been packaged to revive, rekindle and re-engineer youths to
attaining God’s glorious height so that their lives can manifest God’s glory.
He emphasised that the time has come for the youths as
leaders of tomorrow in all spheres of life to reposition themselves to tap
God’s glory, stressing that any youth that has the spirit of God in him/her has
the potentials to surmount every challenge equally be a role model for other
Christians to emulate.
Evang. Obong disclosed that some of those challenges which
have hitherto posed a barrier for Christian youths not shinning out as the
light they ought to be includes peers influence, alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual
immorality, thuggery, violence, kidnapping, robbery, vandalism to mention but a
few, and pleaded with the youths to avail themselves the opportunity of
receiving the Almighty’s touch.
Evang. Obong used the medium to invite all and sundry to be
part of this soul-rewarding and motivational event saying that the retreat will
equally be an avenue to win souls for Christ through evangelism that will be
staged at designated areas.
