Police Commissioner To Declare PCRC Year Open
Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mr. Sulleman Abba, will tomorrow in Port Harcourt declare open this year’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
The ceremony which will take place at the Police Officers Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt will also feature talks on the need to fortify the police, community partnership for improved security and an interactive session with stakeholders on security.
In a statement, the Chairman, Police Community Relations committee (PCRC), Rivers State, Mr. Austen Yong indicates that though previous enlightenment programmes on security had been very successful, more needed to be done to effectively address the existing and emerging security threats in the communities and the state at large.
The PCRC state chairman further stated that the foundation for bridge building was understanding and mutual trust, which could only be achieved through knowledge, adding that the need for serious capacity building had necessitated this year’s theme of PCRC activities, “Fortifying the Police Community Partnership for Community Safety.”
