Val: Ex-Beauty Queen To Celebrate With Elderly
This year’s Valentine Day celebration will take a different look as one time Miss Niger Delta, Her Majesty Excellence Amadi plans to celebrate with the elderly in Ikwerre Local Government Council area.
Amadi who was at the premises of The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation on Wednesday, said she was there to brief its General Manager, Mr. Celestine Ogolo about the programme and the journey so far.
She noted that the idea to celebrate this year’s Val (Tuesday 14, 2012), was to also to give the elderly a sense of belonging in the society.
The programme which is tagged “Come Let’s Celebrate With the Aged”, according to her, had existed for about 10 years.
The Ikwerre-born modelist, said beneficiaries of the celebration would be aged from 50 years and above, adding that the programme was open to all irrespective of their tribe or class.
She told The Tide that Ikwerre Local Government Council and some public-spirited organisations and individuals would support her in providing all logistics for the programme.
According to her, one of her targets was to show love and care to the less privileged ones, adding that her vision was to achieve her target.
Likening the programme to the Biblical mustard seed, she said it would grow to an enviable height that could attract global attention.
Earlier, she called on all to join in the celebration of the aged, orphans and others, saying that happiness was measured on one’s ability to put smiles on the faces of others.
