Mr. Yunusa said it was the mandate of UNICEF to support the country on vaccines and communications, stating that UNICEF partnership with Rivers State was based on the state’s consistency and cooperation which according to him gives UNICEF satisfaction and confidence.
He disclosed that Rivers State was among the few States in Nigeria that was administering the new vaccines and appealed to the State Government to assist them to fix Cold Chain.
Also Speaking, Dr. Richard Koko, the State Coordinator of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said the capacity building workshop was essential because the vaccines were being handled by Cold Chain officers who needed to be trained and retrained to be abreast with current realities.

Declaring the workshop open, the Rivers State Health Commissioner, Dr. Tamunoiyoriari Parker who spoke through the Director of Public Health in the Ministry, Dr. Akuro Okujagu reiterated Governor Amaechi’s commitment to ensure that every resident of Rivers State enjoys quality healthcare.
