NCC Explains Stance On MTN, Others
The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has decided not to sanction the three giant telecommunication Network (MTN, GLO Airtel) over the alleged poor quality service, due to the recent advert that showecased a considerable point of service enhancement by the service providers.
The Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Tony Ojobo made this known to newsmen recently in a statement in Abuja.
The Tide gathered that tests carried out by NCC indicated levels of change in the last quarter of the year, which explained why the Commission did not wield the big stick.
Ojobo, noted that the service providers were given upto 30th of last month to enable them measure up with key performance indicators (KPIS) or face the music.
He explained that the service providers surprised all by meeting up the requirement as directed by the commission.
According to him, the Commission reached the agreement after a derive-test conducted by the body due to repeated complaints by subscribers.
We gathered that the poor service syndrome became paramount within September, October and November without any explanation from the service providers.
Furthermore, he informed that the idea behind the drive-test was to charge the providers to sit up, saying that it will be a waste of time to go on with the sanctioning after they (service providers) have adhered to the commission’s advice.
Other Network providers who also improved their services according to the NCC test, include Etisalat and Visafone.
