NIS Credits Sustained Unit Success To ‘Work Initiative’
The sustained success story in the digital Passport Unit of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Rivers State Command, has been attributed to the “Stop and Greet” initiative of the Passport Controller, DCI Audimusa Maisudan.
This was revealed by some officers of the Unit who chose to be anoymous when The Tide visited the Passport premises of the NIS in Port Harcourt, Friday.
According to them, the “Stop and Greet” initiative has so far created a harmonious relationship among the Officers and Men of the Unit.
They said such was a better way to exercise control over staff, adding that the approach has also spurred them to action in that they see themselves more as a family rather than colleagues.
“This work initiative is helping us in the Passport Unit greatly. When you see your superior or junior smiling towards you, just to exchange pleasantries, it invokes a level of joy and happiness”, they said.
They also revealed that the Unit under Maisudan has a good relationship with passport applicants thus the calm and peace recorded in the area.
The Tide gathered that Passport Officers across the country were recently redeployed except that of Rivers and few other states due to high job standard .
They were not particular about any challenge as touching their operation, and added that Rivers environment is business friendly.
The Passport operators further hinted that the issue of capturing has also been seamless due to the digitalised system of the Unit.
The Tide also learnt that Passport applicants from neighbouring states such as Bayelsa and Imo come to the Unit for services.
