Youth Leader Hails RSG Over ICT Initiative
The Rivers State Government, has been lauded over the establishment of numerous Information and Communication Technology(ICT) centres in the State.
The President of Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV), Mr. Christian Lekia, in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt Wednesday, said it was necessary to introduce ICT teaching in primary school in the state to complement government investment in ICT.
Lekia, pointed out that the ICT introduction in schools, will encourage youths to prefer IT to other aspects of learning.
He stated that those with IT knowledge stand a better chance to interact and transact business internationally.
The Niger Delta youth leader, while urging the Rivers State Government to build ICT training centres across the 23 LGA’s of the state, said more Rivers students should be sent on IT training in order to curtail the living of IT experts from outside the country.
He also called for the establishment of ICT Centre at local government headquarters, in order to enable management and staff in the areas to browse and download useful information from the internet.
The NDCAV leader, praised governor’s S.A on ICT Eng. Goodlife Nmekini for what he described as a job well done and charged him to work harder so that the state’s base will rank among international IT centres. Earlier, he had called on Rivers people to reciprocate the government gesture by maintaining all the infrastructure it had provided.
