House Confirms Four As Commissioners, Rejects One
The Delta House of Assembly on Tuesday screened and confirmed four out of the five nominees sent to it by Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan as commissioners. The confirmed nominees are a former commissioner, Mrs Victoria Ikenchukwu, as well as Mr Charles Emetulu, Mr Michael Osuoza and Mr Mofe Pirah.
The only nominee rejected for failure to provide relevant information about himself is Mr Kenneth Okpara
The House also stepped down the confirmation of three out of the four nominees for appointment as members of the Direct Labour Agency sent to it for screening. The nominees affected are Mr Emmanuel Igbini, Mr Michael Akpobire and Mr Lucky Ayomanor.
Their rejection followed their failure to provide relevant information about themselves to the lawmakers.
Speaker Victor Ochei, however, directed the nominees to re-appear before the House for further screening on Thursday.
The House only screened and confirmed Mr Ngozi Okolie, the agency’s immediate past commissioner.
Meanwhile, Uduaghan has sent the names of another three nominees to the House of Assembly for confirmation as state commissioners.
They are Mr Christian Onogba, Dr Tonye Timi and Mrs Patience Ajudua.
The speaker directed the nominees to send 35 copies of their Curriculum Vitae to the House. The nominees will appear before the House on Thursday for screening and confirmation.
