Don Tasks Authors On ICT
Authors have been charged to make the best use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) inorder to improve on their research work.
Mr Chimaroke Mgba gave the advice in Port Harcourt on Saturday during his opening remarks as the chairman of Mr Hillary Oparaodu’s book launch (Democracy, Good Governance and Development ).
Mgba noted that ICT helps authors to keep in touch with their colleagues around the world inorder to promote their works.
He regretted that some authors jumped into the business without studying the previous works or research carried out by others, hinting that most write-up have been written by some in the past.
He also frowned at the Third World countries’ inability to appreciate books, saying that the best way to hide something from the blackman was to publish it in a book.
Mgba who is lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt noted that people now value social gatherings more than education meetings, blaming it on near failure of the education system.
He also described Oparaodu’s book as timely as it was launched when the country’s preparing to elect its leaders.
The lecturer, has also called on the masses to begin to appreciate books again, and added that much is derived from reading.
The author, Mr Hillary Oparaodu said that the book which is sub titled “Read and Lead” was inspired by the happenings in the country’s leadership circle.
He believed that if there is good governance, the country will also enjoy a sustainable development.
Earlier, he had thanked all who stood by him during the book launch, and promised to do a better job in his next publication.
