Group Plans Protest Over Poor Distribution Of PVCs In Rivers
The United Community Development Committee (UCDC) Rivers State has threatened to call out its members across the state for a mass protest, if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to ensure the effective distribution of the Permanent Voters Card in the state.
The State Coordinator of the Committee Mr John C. Onwubualili who said this at a summit of Community Development Committees (CDCs) Etche Local Government Area at Ulakwo, said that the Commission must ensure that no voter was disenfranchised in Rivers State.
Mr. Onwubualili also stressed the need for Community Development Committees of the various communities in Etche to be proactive and moblised their people for the re-election of Governor Wike.
“I charge you CDCs in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State to be productive and proactive in terms of discharging your duties.
“Ensure support to the State Governor, His Excellency, Chief Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, support him in all ramifications”, he said.
The UCDC Coordinator said that Governor Wike had not failed the people of Etche in the execution of projects.
“You need to do this in consideration of the numerous works initiated and executed by the executive Governor of Rivers State in Etche Local Government”.
Onwubualili listed some of the projects to include, Chokocho – Igwuruta road, Ulakwo-Afara-Nihi road, Igbo Chokocho – Umuechem road, Nihi-Akpokwu-Umuoye road, amongst others.
He also commended the Governor for the appointment of Chinwendu Nworgu as a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State and Professor Mecuri Ndimele as the Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, adding that Etche people are bound to reciprocate it by returning him back to Brick House.
Onwubualili however pleaded with the Governor to consider the construction of Egwi-Igbodo road and Community Secondary School Umuozochi Igbodo as the school has produced many personalities both in Etche and outside.
