Council Boss Sues For Calm Over Demise Of Monarch
The Eleme Local Government Council has urged for calm, following the death of the Paramount Ruler of Eleme Kingdom, HRH Samuel Olaka Ojire.
Chairman of the council, Barrister Phillp Okparaji, who said this in an interview with newsmen during a stakeholders meeting at the weekend in the area, said King Ejire died on the 6th of December 2018.
He said the Council has setup a committee to interface with his immediate family, the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Anglican church with a view to choosing an appropriate date for the monarch’s burial.
Okparaji also said the stakeholders meeting was to announce the death of the monarch to the people as well as seek their views on the way forward.
Also speaking, the Emere Nchia, HRH Phillip Obele, who confirmed the death of the Oneh Eh Eleme said in line with the custom and tradition of Eleme, the issue of succession would arise after the King’s burial.
The Nchia Monach described the late Oneh Eh Eleme as an embodiment of peace and unity in the kingdom.
He said the traditional institution would work hard to sustain the legacy beqeauthed to the people by the late monarch.
In his won speech, the President-General of O-E’la Obor Eleme, Chief Israel E Gomba-Abbey, said the stakeholders’ meeting was to ensure that no form of divisive tendencies arose over the death of the Monarch.
Gomba-Abbey said the burial of the late monarch would be done in a manner that will involve al stakeholders, including the Federal Government and companies operating in the area.
