GM Blames Industry’s Pollution On Social Media
The General Manager,
Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr. Vincent Ake, has criticised the social media for polluting the media industry.
Ake said this while playing host to a social media group, D-Source Connect, at the corporation’s premises in Port Harcourt, recently.
He noted that newspaper still remains the besat means of disseminating information as it records little or not errors.
According to him, the social media has a way of passing wrong information to the public as most of its reports are not verified before publishing.
He maintained that more attention was given during newspaper production, thus making it the best means of reaching out to the people.
Although The Tide boss did not condemn the social media, he cautioned against wrong usage of social media platforms as not to totally pollute the entire media environment.
It would be recalled that D-Source Connect Media Group was at The Tide premises to seek partnership with the corporation.
In his reaction, the leader of the Group, Mr. Dike Amadi, revealed how they have closely related with present government of the state via the medium.
He explained that their intention to seek The Tide’s partnership was also to promote the image of the government through the newspaper in the social media.
Dike, who is also a lawyer, noted that since technology has advanced, most individuals now prefer reading news online to that of the newspaper.
While lauding The Tide’s GM for the audience, he promised on behalf of the team to make The Tide newspaper viral in the social media.
