Student Leader Urges Return Of e-Exams In RSU
The absence of computer-based tests and examination for students of Rivers State University has continued to cause mixed feelings among the student leaders of the institution.
The President, Student Union Government, Comrade Daminabo Daniel, in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, recently said the issue ought to be revisited by the management.
He said that it was only the management that has the capacity to lift the ban on the CBT and exams, since it was solely a management policy.
Daniel, who was the first elected e-president of the campus, maintained that electronic system of examination was the best way to conduct exams going by its speedy nature.
He pointed out that it was a thing of great joy when students see their scores few moments after writing examinations via the internet or any other electronic means.
Counting on the importance of ICT exams, he noted that it drastically reduced lecturer/students interface.
According to him, before the advent of the computer system, the interface between lecturers and students was challenging due to the large number of students.
Concerning the current performance of the ICT department of the school, he said that they should do more in uploading of results.
He was of the view that results were not uploaded early after exams, saying that management should look into the issue and act accordingly.
The number one student of the institution also pleaded with the management to consider the need for e-library for all departments in the school.
He reasoned that upon such achievement, both learning and lecturing processes would be done effortlessly.
Meanwhile, the SUG president has called on the concerned authorities to reconsider the need of bringing back computer dealers who will sell to students at a reduced price.
