Students of Ignatius
Ajuru University of Education (IAOUE), Port Harcourt, have expressed satisfaction over the robust Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development of the institution.
The students made this known in an interview with The Tide yesterday in the school premises.
They said such development, should take the institution to the rank of best community university in Africa and beyond.
One of the students, Miss Ogechi Ahwa, said the achievement was as a result of the good administrative process of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Kinanee.
She explained that such feat would have been impossible, if the place was under a wrong watch.
Ahwa, maintained that the ICT development had availed students several ample opportunities in line with the best global standard of education.
Another student, Faith Omahh, recalled how Kinanee has given free hands to the operators of the ICT scheme, thereby bringing a lot of innovation.
Omah, who blamed part of the sentiment education grandaunds suffered in the past on analogue system, said more should be invested as to enable the present wind of ICT growth to sweep across all state owned higher institutions.
She said now the ground is ready for cultivation, that all moves be channeled towards developing university of education through ICT compliance.
Though the exact capacity of the ICT centre was not immediately known, they said it had the strength to accommodate over 500 students at a time.
Others were of the view that there was general new era in the school such that it is not particular with ICT department alone, but across board.
Earlier, they have called on the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to consider the need of confirming Prof Kinanee as the substantive vice chancellor of the institution in order to enable him carry on with the good works he is doing in the area.
