Commissioner To Assist NAWOJ Members Get Laptops
The Edo Commissioner for Education, Dr Ngozi Osarenren, has promised to assist 10 female journalists in Edo to purchase laptops.
The Tide’s source reports that the laptops are to be purchased under a loan agreement between the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and a private organisation.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ in the state, Mrs Ijeoma Umeh, said in a statement in Benin on Wednesday that the commissioner had promised to pay a month’s installment for the 10 NAWOJ members.
The association had arranged with a private organisation for the purchase of 40 laptops under a loan agreement.
The laptops were bought at N106,600 each with the beneficiaries expected to pay N8,883 monthly over a period of 12 months.
The NAWOJ chairperson said the 10 beneficiaries were personally screened by the commissioner.
Umeh thanked the commissioner for the gesture and appealed to other well placed individuals to help the association to boost the capacity of women journalists.
She said the laptops would be distributed to members on Monday.
