Media Manager Tasks MTN On Database Upgrading
The Mobile Telecom
munication Network (MTN), has been called upon to explore better ways of upgrading its database, as it continues to register SIM cards.
The General Manager, Avid Media Communication, Mr Tunde Godwin, made the call in an interview with The Tide Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
He noted that the mobile network company had commenced another round of fresh registration of customers SIM cards after the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) imposed a fine on them for having over one million unregistered sim cards in its network.
Godwin, said the network provider, as a digital company, should seek for ways to improve on its database progromme, so as to avoid inconveniencing its customers.
According to him, there should be some standards in such exercise and not boring subscribers always.
He regretted that many phone users are yet to register their SIMs due to the large crowd at MTN outlets.
The media manager, also described as risky the issue of crowding at registration centres, saying it could be soft target for terrorists.
He explained how harmonized SIM registration system would boost subscribers’ confidence, adding that phone users in the country are faced with different challenges.
The Tide gathered that the exercise was still on in the state, with several subscribers complaining of incomplete message alert from MTN after re-registering as directed by the company.
However, he has appealed to NCC to continue the way it is checking network providers, saying without the regulatory body, phone usage would have been difficult.
