‘Use Technology To Improve Efficiency, Reduce Cost’
An Information Commu
nication Technology (ICT) expert, Mr Gianta Balraj, on Monday called on the authorities to take advantage of ICT to reduce cost and enhance productivity among their workers.
Balraj, Country Head, Altec Sfisco International, an Abuja-based ICT outfit, said this in Abuja at the digital printing and finishing exhibition organised.
“Many innovations in the ICT sector have made it possible for offices and organisations to be more productive and efficient in the dispensation of their duties and schedules.
“You find out that a whole office complex can have just one centralised computing and printing system unlike what is the norm presently where you have lots equipment in the offices.
“digitisation, apart from helping to cut cost in terms of purchases and maintenance also saves lots of space in the office for other things,’’ he said.
Balraj, whose company is the main distributor of some renowned Technology products in Nigeria, said the company had manufactured a digitilised photo copier that could perform multiple functions.
“One of the products on display is sharp’s MX-7500 machine.
“It can photocopy, print, bind, perforate, clip and can handle variety of paper types; so you find that the functions that would be performed by many machines can be done by this single machine.
“You see that innovation and technology have really evolved and this will bring about more efficiency in work done with speed”, he said.
The ICT expert, however, called on government to take more concrete efforts to encourage local manufacturing of goods.
“This will create employment opportunities for our the youths in this country,’’ he said
