Union Sets Up Empowerment Schedule For Members
The Association of Senior
Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) has approved the setting up of an empowerment scheme for its members.
The National President of the Union, Comrade Olusoji Salako announced this in a signed communiqué issued and obtained by The Tide after the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Benin City on Tuesday.
Salako said the union considered empowerment schemes for its members to enhance their welfare in their respective working places .
He said the schemes include providing affordable housing scheme through mortgage and a good legal protection insurance at a very low premium rate, stressing that under the good legal protection scheme, an enrollee would pay a premium of five thousand including will, proporty agreement and legal representation in times of need.
The communiqué said the union NEC approved the setting up of committees to interface with appointed consultants to work out modalities for the schemes as a quick reality for the union members.
The NEC of the union urged the various unit executives to encourage their members to embrace welfare initiatives of the union, stressing that the current NEC leadership was determined to protect the overall interest of the union’s members.
The communiqué also called upon the Federal government to redouble its efforts towards improving the security situation in the country.
The union called for an urgent review of the security strategy employed to tackle the Boko Haram sect which has been terrorizing the North Eastern part of the country.
