Work On PH Rail Line May End, Next Week
The re-construction
of the railway line from Elelenwo station to the Port Harcourt terminal will be completed next week.
A source at the construction firm, Esser West Africa Ltd, who pleaded annonmity disclosed this to The Tide correspondent in Port Harcourt last Monday.
The source said the Group B workers of the rail line that started work from Elelenwo Railway Station have so far covered 15 kilometers now at UTC bus stop, and that by the end of next week, it would cover the remaining one kilometer to the terminal at Station Bus-stop axis of Port Harcourt.
According to the source, the work is being carried out by 28-workers grouped into two to level the formation, put the slippers, lay the rails and fish plate and carryout the slipping before the balance stones would be poured on the rail lines.
The source said all things being equal, train would start to move from December this year to the North and West of the country.
It noted that when fully operational close of transport within and outside the state would be reduced to enable the masses travel and transport their goods from one point to another and assured of passenger safety during and after xmas.
