Association Makes Case For Technology-Driven Mechanic Village
The Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) has called on the Bauchi State Government to establish an ultra modern technology -driven mechanic village in the meropolis.
The Chairman of NATA, Alhaji Salisu Alin-Bababa, made the call in an interview with The Tide’s source in Bauchi on Wednesday.
He said this would reduce the activities of quacks, mostly operating on the roadside.
“Hundreds of residents mechanics practise the trade in an analogue manner as they lacked a technologically equiped mechanic village. They conduct their trade by the road sides thereby obstructing traffic and contravening environmental laws”, he said.
Alin-baba said members of the association will also be adequately trained in order to improve their skills in handling newly-manufactured vehicles coming with modern technology.
“This would go a long way in reorganising the profession in line with the best practices as well as improve skills”, he said.
According to him, “artisans have not enjoyed proper recognition and benefits from the State Government for some years back, with the hope that this government would recognise us.
