Cleric Tasks Lay Readers, Evangelists On Social Media Operations Training
The Arch Bishop of Niger Delta Province and Bishop, Diocese of Ikwerre, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt Rev’d Blessing C Enyindah, has called on potential Lay Readers and Evangelists to be prepared for training in social media operations.
Making the call during the flag off of the 2022 Lay Readers/Evangelists training programme at Isiopko in Ikwerre Local Government Area recently, Enyindah said it is to ensure that they are able to cope with modern trends in communication.
According to him, the course, which comes under ‘Gospel Communication, Skill and Use of Social Media’, must be taken seriously.
The clergyman noted that since Social Media has become the in-thing in modern way of communicating, it would be proper for those aspiring to propagate the gospel to key into and do it the right way.
“I am the Director of training for training of Church of Nigeria. That is why I insist that the right thing must be done”, he said.
He expressed the view that the modern christian, especially those in active service in the church, ought to be Information and be Information Communication Technology (ICT), compliant.
“ICT and its usage puts the man on better footing, hence the thought of embracing it in the training programme of the church”, he said.
He said the aim is to make room for a successful Apostolic succession, “because the church is a church of order”.
He urged participants at the training to be resourceful in order to meet the task ahead.
In his address, the Council Director, Ven Chikaodi Wachukwu, who described the Arch Bishop as a Social Media guru, said the best would be expected from the course, since the ArchBishop himself would anchor it.
Wachukwu, who supported the views of his boss on the importance of Social Media, noted that the needful must be done by those who wish to serve God via modern means of communication in order to acquire necessary knowledge in ICT.
The training, which started last week, will last for four months, according to Wachukwu.
