Air Crash: Ethiopian Airlines Appreciates Nigerians Over Support
The Ethiopian Airlines in Nigeria has thanked Nigerians, particularly stakeholders in the aviation industry, for standing with the airline in its period of grief.
General Manager of the airline in Nigeria, Mrs Firihiewot Mekonnen, disclosed this in a statement made available to aviation correspondent last Tuesday.
She said that the airline was overwhelmed by the volume of condolences it received on the crash incident.
“This is coming just as we opened condolence registers at our offices in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and Enugu for the victims of the ET Flight 302 that crashed during the 10th of March, six minutes after take-off.
“We have been receiving visitors in our office in Lagos. We thank the Nigerian President and the good people of Nigeria for the condolence messages from the Government of Nigeria.
” We have always counted on Nigeria as an African partner and brother and this sad occasion once again proves the bond.
“We commiserate with Nigeria over the loss to humanity of the two great Nigerians on the flight. We have since reached out to the families involved.
” The Ethiopian Airlines will not abandon its responsibilities to them. We have grounded all B737-8Max airplanes in our fleet. We do not use the B737Max on Nigerian routes, but we only deploy the B777 and B787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 on Nigerian routes daily,” she said.
It would be recalled that two Nigerians, Professor Pius Adesanmi and Ambassador Bashua Abiodun died in the crash.
